Horace A. Daley was born in one of Jamaica's inner-city communities in Kingston and attended Calabar High School (1984-1989). His childhood dream was to become a Lawyer (Q.C). Unfortunately, financial difficulties, coupled with lack of scholarship opportunities prevented him from pursuing his dream to attend the prestigious Norman Manley Law School. After graduating high school, he was fortunate to be employed with Hanna’s Better Buy Department Store in Kingston as a Stock Clerk. His former employer, Mr. Robert Hanna, funded Horace’s continued educational development and persuaded him to change his course of study to Accounting; a field he excelled in academically. Mr. Daley has reflected on the help he received as the primary reason to give back to needy children in Jamaica.
The direction of Professional Jamaicans for Jamaica, Inc., under his leadership and vision is promising; paving the way, while working collaboratively with fellow citizens and friends of Jamaica to rebuild the image of brand Jamaica and enhance the educational development of our children in Jamaica. The organization has yielded many rewards. They promote an annual Backpack Project; an annual campaign that invites its members and friends to donate school supplies to children from poor communities in Jamaica and who would otherwise return to school without them. There are other projects launched by the organization, which were published in the national newspapers. The organization initiated a Breakfast Program at the Trench Town Primary School and has encouraged the Ministry of Education to launch a nationwide Breakfast Program, which is now in effect. In addition, the organization launched a scholarship fund to aid students from low-income communities with financial assistance to offset their educational cost; scholarships available to high school students: Ms. Esmie L. Walters Scholarship, Ambrozean Scholarship, Dr. Rashida Biggs Scholarship, Grayson Family Scholarship, and Taylor Family Scholarship.
Horace A. Daley is a visionary and a strong advocate for a better tomorrow for his beloved country, Jamaica.
