Our History
Professional Jamaicans for Jamaica, Inc. is still a relatively young company – we have only existed in our current form since 2010, but our work has impacted many families in Jamaica.
On May 10, 2010, our organization was created to address the economic and education needs of children who are challenged economically and socially. The organization is the brainchild of Horace A. Daley, a Jamaican native living in the United States of America. The organization currently has over 6,000 members from international boundaries committed to unite actions for our cause.
After a futile search to find a space on Facebook where Jamaicans living abroad, like himself, can articulate ideas as they address issues affecting Jamaica and make meaningful contributions, Horace decided to create the organization.
A month later, his vision for Professional Jamaicans for Jamaica, Inc. became clearer, especially after several arising issues and discussions critically affecting his country; disturbance which underlines and further widens the social and economic woes of the country.
Our vision is to make meaningful contributions to the education sector of our nation and through collective efforts, we can make the impossible, possible. Horace believes in honesty, accountability, integrity and transparency, which are few of the core principles of the organization.
While we look to the next step in the organization's journey, we are grateful to those individuals who have made a difference in the lives of our children.
Practical Actions
The organization’s objectives are being further developed to incorporate suggestions and executions of practicable actions.
The first step of practical actions is to offer academic scholarships to students in Jamaica. The first of which is an essay competition in honor of Ms. Esmie L. Walters. This scholarship is for high school students from Grade 7 (First Form) to Grade 13 (Upper Sixth Form), to provide them with funds to offset educational costs.
